Renewable energy, built from what others throw away.

Waste2Light develops wind, solar, hydro and hybrid renewable-energy technologies using recycled plastic and electronic waste, manufactured locally in Minna.

01Confirmed

Wind

Locally manufactured wind turbines built with recycled plastic and electronic waste.

Prototype capacities span 250W, 500W, 1kW, 2kW and 3kW. A 105 cm blade and a two-part fiberglass mould are in development to make blade production repeatable, and an imported 800W turbine has been acquired for reverse engineering.

02Confirmed

Solar & Hybrid Systems

Photovoltaic capture combined with wind for reliable off-grid and backup power.

Waste2Light has delivered a 1kW wind-solar hybrid system installation and uses 5V solar cells across its teaching kits and demonstrations.

03Confirmed

Micro-Hydro

Small-scale hydro generation for communities with flowing water resources.

Micro-hydro technology has been developed as part of Waste2Light's renewable-energy portfolio alongside wind and solar work.

04Confirmed

Circular Manufacturing

Plastic waste and e-waste recovered and converted into working technology.

Over 1,000 metric tonnes of plastic waste have been recycled, feeding directly into turbine components, enclosures and prototype fabrication at the Waste2Light maker space.

In the workshop

What we are building right now.

Current development work at the Waste2Light maker space in Minna.

In development

105 cm wind-turbine blade

A blade profile currently in development for the next generation of Waste2Light turbines.

In development

Two-part fiberglass mould

Tooling that will make blade production repeatable and consistent at local workshop scale.

Ongoing

800W turbine reverse engineering

An imported 800W wind turbine acquired to study, benchmark and improve local designs.

Delivered
